hello friends.
Hope everyone stateside is enjoying a nice day off from work, celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He was such a prominent figure in our country's modern history for freedom and equality. I am so thankful for the brave individuals who are not afraid to fight for change.
That being said, I am remembering MLK from my office today (or at least I will be when this post is published). No day off for me, boo hoo :(
But that's ok, this weekend was more than enough fun to hold me over.
Friday we enjoyed the company of some dear friends at their place. Eating delicious chicken tortilla soup, fresh guacamole, and flan for dessert. We played a Sherlock Holmes version of Clue.
I have a problem with board games - I always win. I'm not trying to brag here, it's an actual problem. Especially with these friends. We both like to play games, but almost every time we've gotten together and had a game night, I end up winning. What can I say, it's a blessing and a curse.
At first it was funny. "Haha, Kristin won again."
Then it became, "Seriously, you won again?!"
The comical part of it is that for the last 4 or 5 times I haven't really been trying. I don't try to lose, with my competitive nature that would just be too difficult, but the winning just happens. Take Friday night for instance. I have not played Clue since I was twelve years old, so I was pretty sure I wouldn't win.
I had only crossed off 5 things on my score card but as fate would have it, I was literally in the right place and just followed the lead of the others.
"Mrs. Plum in the library with the wrench!"
Since it was Sherlock version it was actually "Detective Inspector Lestrade in the something with the wrench."
We left shortly after that.
Saturday we went to Downtown San Diego with some friends visiting from LA. Remember that restaurant, The Blind Burro, I talked about the other week? Well I have been obsessing over it since then. The drinks, the appetizers, the tacos. All amazing. Here are a few pics to whet your appetite.
